Szula-Ra

The Szula-Ra are demigods with Aztec inspiration.

This design represents a kind of journey that’s pretty common with me, where I think I’ve settles on an idea before thinking of ways to improve of expand upon it.

At first, I designed them with humanoid figures, but after feedback from my professor, they were redesigned to be more naga-like to make them more dynamic and interesting. From there, I made a one-off pose with line art that I felt satisfied with at the time, but then next year I had second thoughts.

In 2021, the Szula-Ra underwent another redesign into a form more understandable to other artists along with a splash art styled illustration to give them story.
